A demining engineering team member killed in Shabwah

A mine-clearing engineer was killed Wednesday when a landmine planted by the Houthis was blown up while they were under control of the Osailan district north of the southeastern province of Shabwah.

A field source told Al Masdar online that engineer Yasser Abbad, a member of the engineering team of the National Demining Center, was killed instantly while the team was conducting the search and demining of the vicinity of the Ibn Aqil area of the Directorate of Osailan.

He noted that the engineering team that arrived in the Directorate two months ago within the initiative of the King Salman Center «Masam», continues to search and remove the remnants of the Houthis from mines and improvised explosive devices that have claimed the lives of dozens of civilians.

The al-Houthi group planted hundreds of mines and improvised explosive devices in the district of Osailan alone, as a result of ongoing confrontations between them and government forces.
